Authentication means examining a piece in detail against the known characteristics of the house that made it, until there's no question that it's genuine. At Lucy's Luxury, every piece goes through that process before it's placed. The stitching, the hardware, the materials, the date codes, the documentation. Each element is assessed individually by our in-house team.
For the buyer, that means purchasing with complete confidence. For the consignor, it means your piece is presented with the standing it deserves.

When independent authentication is required, we work with LegitGrails or Entrupy, the world's leading luxury authentication services, trusted by collectors, dealers and auction houses across the globe.
Their specialists work within their area of expertise, with deep knowledge of each house, each era, and the specific details used to establish whether a piece is genuine. The certificate they issue is regarded as the industry benchmark for confirmed authenticity, and it travels with your piece to its next owner.

Where independent authentication through LegitGrails is required, the following fees apply. Every fee is deducted from your payout, so there's nothing to pay upfront.

For pieces where original proof of authenticity isn't available, we arrange independent authentication through LegitGrails on your behalf.
$120 + GST
Hermès Bags
Every Hermès bag is independently authenticated by LegitGrails, even when it arrives with original receipts. Your Hermès deserves that level of care, and so does the person who takes it home.

Each piece is different, so our team will talk you through the right approach and confirm pricing before anything is arranged.
The detail is everything.
Hardware and Materials
Serial numbers, date codes, hardware weight and finish, material composition and grain. Each element is examined against the manufacturer's known specifications for that house, year, and model.
Construction and Stitching
Stitch count and consistency, lining material and finish, logo placement and typography. The details a house builds its reputation on are the same ones we look for.
Exterior and Condition
The overall condition of the piece, including wear, repairs, and any restoration work. How a piece has aged is part of what makes it unique, and we take the time to understand it fully.
Documentation and Packaging
Receipts, certificates, dust bags, boxes and care booklets. Original documentation doesn't authenticate a piece on its own, but together these details tell a fuller story, and we give each one the attention it deserves.
